Location:         Hamilton, Michigan


Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Livestock Transport Driver to safely transport pigs between company facilities and processing plants throughout Michigan and Indiana. This role combines professional driving with hands-on animal care, requiring attention to animal welfare, biosecurity, and changing environmental conditions.

 

This is a great opportunity for individuals with agricultural experience who enjoy independent work, responsibility, and working with livestock.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load, transport, and unload feeder pigs, weaned pigs, and cull sows between facilities

  • Occasionally transport market hogs to processing plants

  • Ensure animal welfare during transport, including proper handling, stocking density, ventilation, and comfort

  • Adjust practices based on weather and road conditions to maintain safety and livestock well-being

  • Operate and maintain transport equipment, including seasonal setup (bedding, boarding, misters, winter panels)

  • Follow all biosecurity protocols to prevent disease transmission

  • Communicate effectively with dispatch/coordinators regarding schedules and logistics

  • Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate with maintenance staff

  • Maintain cleanliness of truck cab and equipment

  • Accurately complete and submit required paperwork

  • Follow all facility and plant procedures during loading and unloading

 

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • CDL preferred, but not required 

  • Experience with livestock handling (swine experience strongly preferred)

  • Understanding of animal behavior and low-stress handling techniques

  • Ability to work in varying weather and road conditions

  • Strong communication and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules

  • Physically capable of loading/unloading animals and handling equipment
